Benchmark

The benchmark reaction is something that bowlers have come to expect from Columbia 300 for decades. Columbia 300 has been the bowler's choice for benchmark bowling balls so often throughout history that we decided to finally call the ball what it really is... the Benchmark!

The engineers at Columbia 300 understand that when naming a ball the Benchmark, the performance has to live up to its name. New Standard Reactive provides the perfect amount of traction in order to work on most typical house patterns and a great variety of tournament patterns. One of the four colors poured in the Benchmark is a pearl silver color, making it a Hybrid and creating the right amount of length.
The Columbia 300 Tri-Rib core is symmetric in shape with a medium RG and medium to high Differential. The Tri-Rib core provides the numbers you look for in a Benchmark ball and will work with the widest variation of styles.

Shooting Star

The Roto Grip Shooting Star is a great addition to the Shield Line. It has a release date of 10/25/11.

With the phenomenal success of the original Rising Star™, the Shooting Star™ must utilize the new Neutron™ core as the power source. It’s just that good!

The Neutron core’s medium RG- medium differential shape is based on the concept started with the original Photon™ core. But with the Neutron core, you’ll find an even lower radius of gyration (RG) and higher differential in the heavier weights which hooks up heavy on the backend.

To increase the midlane roll and bring an earlier break point, we looked at a few different options. Testing the Ultimate Vision™ coverstock in a solid version produced the desired motion. Prepped with 2000-grit Abralon®, the Shooting Star created a break point that was two feet earlier and more rounded, or smoother. Controlling the pocket is often the key to higher scores. As we have mentioned before, a breakthrough in coverstock technology rarely happens due to the complex nature of chemistry and polymer science. But Storm’s research and development team is committed to maintaining the ‘pole position’ in bowling innovation, so it’s no surprise that the new NRG™ cover has again taken the world by storm.

The magnification of the surface of the new NRG coverstock shows you the increased surface texture between the peaks and valleys, as well as the more aggressive edges on the top of the peaks! Thank you nanotechnology!

Continuing to move forward with the new technology breakthrough, our new release will glide through the heads more easily than the original Virtual Gravity Nano yet still handle heavy oil.

The Shape-Lock HD™ Core which powered the original Virtual Gravity Nano produced a fast-revving action that helped bowlers create more ball motion and total hook. While the new nanotech cover provided a lot of sizzle, unless it’s paired with a quality weight block or core you will never see the advantages of either.

In looking for different ways to expand the benefits of nanotechnology, we explored several additive options to the base NRG coverstock and found that adding mica to this shell material created a cleaner glide through the heads without sacrificing any of its ability to handle larger amounts of oil. Frantic

For the new Frantic™, we wanted a reliable, proven coverstock that would provide a clean glide through the heads and attack the drier boards on the backend. R2S™, the second generation of Reactor™ coverstock material, is the perfect choice as it does just that.

With a pearl and a solid version available in the line, we prepared a hybrid version to see if it blended both power and control. Armed with the exact same coverstock as the Hy-Road™, it proved itself quickly during the testing process and moved on to the next phase, surface preparation.

With a 1500-grit polished finish, the new Frantic was impressive during C.A.T.S.® testing as it created three times the entry angle of the 2Furious™.
